GATE INSTITUTE OF PARAMEDICAL, NURSING AND MANAGEMENT (GIPNAM) was established with the objective of providing professional B.Voc. Degree & Diploma Programmes in the field of Paramedical sciences for under 10th, 10+2, graduate and working professionals.
The Institute is located on a sprawling premise, on Mother Teresa Road, at the heart of Guwahati, the principal city and the nerve centre of North-East. The demography of the population is also changing towards elderly age group , due to increased life expectancy ,thus putting further strain on the healthcare infrastructure.
It has been established that, healthcare, delivered within the traditional framework tends to multiply the effects of an illness and prolong its aftermath , both in terms of expenses and time .
Allied Health professionals are a new breed of caregivers, who can be effective in bridging this gap in demand and supply of service. They act as force multipliers, complementing the effort of core health professionals like physicians and surgeons. Allied health professionals are now being inducted in ever-greater numbers in the modern healthcare system to minimize the duration of morbidity and maximize the quality of life after an illness.
As medical technicians, these professionals play a very important role in clinical decision making, ensuring accuracy of diagnosis through sophisticated laboratory investigations and advanced imaging techniques. They are the need of the hour.
To address this need, GATE INSTITUTE OF PARAMEDICAL, NURSING AND MANAGEMENT (GIPNAM) (previously known as DPMI-Guwahati) with technical inputs from DPMI, Delhi ; recognized by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to give first hand training & exposure to a new breed of caregivers, who can be effective in bridging this gap in demand and supply of service. A fully equipped Pathology Department, with full complement of sophisticated equipments with a scientific and user-friendly layout, has been made ready for hands on clinical training. A purpose built laboratory training facility, planned and executed for congenial ergonomics for conducting Hematology, Biochemistry and Pathological investigations, complete with sophisticated Microscopes, Autoanalyser and basic lab equipments has been put together.
Fully equipped Operation Theatre, X-Ray & C.T. Scan set-up are available for students to experience real time hands-on training.
A purpose designed library with a large number of reference volumes, covering all aspect of tough courses, will be made available to the scholars. The students will be provided with textbooks, CDs, study materials and stationary by the institute, at actual cost.
Full multimedia back up with free internet access, along with class rooms equipped with PCs for audiovisual training will be available. This facility will be the first of its kind for such courses in the country. The institute offers fully furnished hostel facility, to outstation candidates, on first come first served basis, at a very reasonable cost.
The hostel facilities will be separate for boys and girls, providing clean, safe accommodation with hygienic & nutritious food. Ample arrangements have been made to provide indoor sports and entertainment. The institute has enrolled the services of the very best teachers in their respective fields, to impart teaching and training to the students of various disciplines. One of the unique and path breaking feature, being introduced in the academic programme, is the Milestones .Each student will be provided ,at the outset of the academic year, a fixed day-to-day schedule of topics to be covered. This will ensure a timely completion of the syllabus and accountability on the part of the teacher .Regular evaluation of progress through tests and group-discussions will be a standard feature of all taught courses.
